Exploring Calabar; Watersliding in Tinapa Waterpark

Waking up was a hassle for me because I could literally feel my bones breaking. I had an amazing time learning history the day before but my body was in pains. I got up from the bed with the mindset that going watersliding for the first time was worth it. This was my last day in Calabar and I couldn’t wait for it to end in a bang, what better place to end our tour than the famous Tinapa Resort.

Morning

After dragging myself up from bed, I needed to eat something (I don’t joke with food) but what was I supposed to eat when breakfast would be coming late. I decided to become a local and try one of Calabar finest delicacies, Edikankong soup and pounded Yam which I got from a restaurant close by.

Pro tip: When you visit Calabar make sure to have a taste of the Divine taste of originally made Edikankong soup.

With everyone still busy with the hustle and bustle of the morning and getting ready for the day’s trip, I just stood around chatting with friends and well doing something I know how to do best, troublemaking. We finally left for Tinapa Resort at around 11am, I had mixed feelings since I knew I was closer to leaving Calabar.

Tinapa Waterpark is one of Nigeria’s finest waterparks with an invitation to experience fun like no other. The waterpark comprises of an adult and children sized pools, breath-taking water slides, a lazy river, a wave-pool and other exciting attractions. It is located in Tinapa Resort and entrance fee is 1000naira. We got to Tinapa Waterpark after a 20minutes drive from our hotel.

My visit to the waterpark was during the off season so some of the facilities where not functioning like the lazy river and wave pool.

Things to do at Tinapa Waterpark

1. Picnic: You could go for a picnic at the park, just chill with friends, enjoy the scenic view, play board games and the park also provides a volleyball court which you could partake in.
   Pro tip: If you on a budget travel, make sure to pack your on food to save costs.
2. You could go for a swim on a hot day or if you not a swimmer, you can just laze around the pool.
3. Watersliding: The main attraction of the park, I won’t advise you to visit the waterpark without experiencing the thrill of watersliding.

Pro tip: When visiting Tinapa Waterpark, make sure to pack your swimsuit.

The Waterpark although suffering from a lack of maintenance was worth every cent I spent. Finally, after having the time of our lives, we had to go back to the hotel (Yeah i was a little it sad but trust my crew). On getting to the hotel, the crew decided to put on a bonfire night (well, not an actual bonfire) just us sitting around, chatting, playing games, eating and having fun until past midnight. I actually got the bang end to my tour I was looking for.

The next morning saw us packing our bags back to the stress of schooling. In all, Calabar was great and thanks for staying with me through this adventure, I hope you plan to visit Calabar soon.

You might wonder if this is all Calabar has too offer, of course not, I might not have been able to see every bit of Calabar but trust your girl, I was able to get some information on other places and activities you could do in Calabar from the locals.
