Beyonce's 36th birthday was never going to involve a night out at Pizza Express or a hastily bought bouquet from a petrol station.
But her actual birthday celebrations cost more than most people would spend on their biggest life purchases - and involved several thousand revellers.
Because the new mum, who gave birth to baby twins Rumi and Sir Carter in June, didn't just celebrate in private; husband Jay-Z made sure all eyes were on Bey by serenading her on stage at the Made In America festival in Philadelphia.
And just to ensure her birthday went off with a bang, the rapper dropped several thousand pounds on some seriously luxurious cakes.
Staff at the Cake Life Bake Shop were commissioned by a mystery client the week before Beyonce's birthday and were asked to provide cakes and biscuits with a specific theme.
"Last week, a call came into Philadelphia’s Cake Life Bake Shop requesting some cakes and cookies for New York clientele who were coming down for the Made In America festival over the weekend," a source revealed to Page Six.
"The caller asked for various items and then specifically black-and-yellow-coloured items, including a black and yellow geode-themed cake."
The cake in question would have cost at least $3,500 - £2,675 - and accompanied another layer cake flavoured with honey, lavender and goats cheese.

There were also beehive-shaped cookies and crown biscuits included in the order - no Colin Caterpillars around these parts.
The cake shop's co-owner Lily Fischer revealed that the baking masterpiece took two whole days to construct and was hand-delivered to the VIP area at the Made In America festival.
It wasn't the only grand gesture pulled out for Beyonce's birthday - she also convinced the former First Lady Michelle Obama to join other celebrities in dressing up as her Formation persona.
Michelle joined Beyonce's Destiny's Child bandmates, tennis ace Serena Williams and others in a photo tribute where they dressed up like the superstar to mark her special day.
The images were posted on Beyonce's website with the message: "Happy Birthday Beyonce, your family and friends."

As well as Beyonce's mum Tina Knowles, the superstar's five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy also took part.
Adele was also among the sea of famous faces to wish Beyonce happy birthday on Monday.
The Hello singer shared a black and white image of the mum-of-three on Twitter.
She wrote: "Happy Birthday to the Queen Beyonce.
"We love you like no other x."
Meanwhile, on Sunday the star's husband Jay Z also publicly wished his wife happy birthday by getting the audience at the Made In America festival in Philadelphia to serenade her.
According to US reports, the rapper said: "Beautiful Bey is in the house tonight. Happy Birthday, my love."
He then urged them to join him in singing happy birthday to the Lemonade star, who gave birth to their twins Rumi and Sir Carter in June.
A video posted on the Music Choice Instagram page appeared to show Beyonce dancing along to the tribute.
