March 28, 2024I purchased this phone from a private seller listing on Swappa in March 2024. The listing was a bit of a unicorn being a brand new 2020 model Galaxy S20 5G for about the same price I could purchase the device refurbished elsewhere. I was specifically looking for this model phone because it was the last flagship Galaxy model to feature an SD card slot but it still had most of the newer features such as 5G cell service and 6G Wi-Fi capability. It was even on my same carrier which was a bonus. The phone came exactly as described, I swapped my sim card, put a case on it and am extremely pleased. Upgrading from a Galaxy S9 there are several improvements but the phone is slightly narrower so typing with my wide thumbs will take some getting used to.
It is unfortunate that Samsung got greedy and went to the tiered memory business model for their flagship devices. I have been a Galaxy user since the very beginning and the ability to expand storage and replace the battery was what first made me choose Samsung and Android over Apple's iPhone. Samsung stopped the replaceable batteries after the Galaxy S5 and I begrudgingly accepted that but this will likely be my last Samsung phone. I simply refuse to take the risk that all my photos and data can be lost if the phone fails and won't power on. I will not pay a monthly fee to store my photos on a cloud somewhere either. Samsung did not have to do away with the SD card slot, the dual slot tray is the same set up they use for international models that have dual sim configurations. No, they deliberately did it to sell more subscriptions to their cloud service and gain the ability to charge twice as much for devices having a couple of small sticks of extra onboard memory. Companies have slowly worn away our flexibility of choice so they can collect monthly subscription revenue and take advantage of the ever growing need for more storage. I do what I can to not fall in line with that trend.
[Rewarded Review] LOVE this phone!

May 10, 2024Dislikes: No headphone plug. That's it.
Likes: EVERYTHING ELSE! We went with this phone because it had the features we NEEDED (and a TON of cool things that weren't NEEDs), and it was listed as working with my wife's Bluetooth hearing aids. We had been using iPhones for her and I DISPISE them BUT they readily worked with the app for her hearing aids.
The switch for my carrier was SUPER Simple. I popped the SIM out of the iPhone and popped it, and an extra 128gb Micro SD card, in the Samsung and we were up and running! No muss, no fuss. PS: my carrier is Xfinity. Switched from Verizon back when Xfinity Mobile just came into the area. Been VERY happy with them.
It is FAST, has good battery life, a great screen, several biometric ID choices, can actually use my WiFi to access all or files on our home file server (NAS/SAN)! I spent the time to peruse all the settings (Windows Geek, I know) and tuned it for her use. A little adjustment got me from my cheap $100 Motorola (2022) to a higher level phone and we were off! The wife is adjusting well too. Importing the data from iPhone and Google was EASY using the Smart Switch app that came on the phone and loading the iPhone version on the wife's iPhone. Did it using Bluetooth/WiFi and was done in a jiffy. The biggest pain was installing all her Apple apps using Android versions and then opening them all making sure she could log in and "get around" ok.
I DO recommend getting a case for it as it is thin and slick and my old large hands and fingers sometimes touch the screen causing unexpected behaviors and dropping it IS a VERY real fear! My case SHOULD be here today or tomorrow.
If we had the $$$, I would upgrade my Motorola G Power (2022) to this same Samsung S20 (5G / 128gb memory) in a heartbeat!

May 22, 2024Mint? Restored to new condition by Manufacturer? So why did the battery on mine go from 100% at 2:30pm to 0% at 9:50pm on the day after I received it? When the screen had only been used as a satnav and Bluetooth music for 2.5hrs round trip, and 37 minutes total of intermittent web browsing, (not video or gaming) during that <8 hour 'day', I also turned the screen brightness down to very low settings after the first half an hour as I worried it might not make it without charge for the way home! (I have a car charger, but needed to see how bad this phone was) The battery is trash, and I have already re-transfered all of my data BACK to my old phone. During the 'Manufacturer fully checking it' I doubt they tried to use this 4 yr old phone for a day, and the battery was worse than I would expect if I had knowingly bought a 2nd hand phone from some random seller. I would have expected more. This review is about this phone, as sold on this site. Yes the phone has some great features, but the one sold to me, was awful AND I didn't even attempt 8K video or 120hz gaming, the battery was HOT whilst doing the Samsung instalation!!!
