Marvel just announced title of upcoming Avengers films will be changed; here's why

Marvel wants its Avengers movies to be well received by superhero fans all over the world – by comic book and movie fans alike, and that is why it decided to make a few important changes to its upcoming release.

The two Avengers films will roll out as planned, Avengers: Infinity War – Part I has been been slated for a May 4, 2018 release and Avengers: Infinity War – Part II has been slated for May 3, 2019 release respectively.

But what is new is that there is an official name change from Disney and Marvel studios.

The first movie, Avengers: Infinity War – Part I will be simply known as Avengers: Infinity War. The second movie, Avengers: Infinity War – Part II, is now known as The Untitled Avengers Film because the film’s name might give away a few very important plot details.

In an interview on Uproxx in May, brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of the Avenger: Infinity War films, signaled their intention to change the titles.  “The movies are two very different movies,” Joe Russo said, with Anthony adding that the titles seem to mislead the audience. “The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it.”

This also indicates that the two movies might not be in continuation with each other as we previously thought. The first movie is to be based on Marvel’s Infinity War comic book series, and the 2019 movie might or might not be related to the related to the first part. The title of the movie might be revealed as late as the release of 2018 Avengers: Infinity War movie.

The two Avengers movies are the part of the phase three of Marvel Cinematic Universe which started with Captain America: Civil War. The second phase three movie is Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange releasing on 4 November, 2016.
